Mini E shows that customers can be impressed by its qualities

Customer testing for the electric version of the MINI is doing quite well. Many of those who leased the cars tell BMW that they want to keep the car when the leasing program is finished. In an interview with Just-Auto, BMW chairman Norbert Reithofer said that this trial will be followed next year with a customer test fleet based on the current study with the BMW Concept ActiveE, which will be produced at the Leipzig plant. Earlier this year, BMW announced the initial results of the performances of the MINI E in the US.

BMW found out that the car has a range of about 100 miles, which is certainly sufficient for most people’s daily requirements. The driver can recharge the car easily at home and there have been no complications recorded.

Reithofer added that the MINI is “not a miniature version of another model series” and that MINI will remain to be original, with its signature face, a unique tradition and over 1.5 million fans around the world. At the Geneva Auto Show, BMW declared the release of a fleet of 700 electric vehicles based on the ActivE Concept.

This set of vehicles will be leased to customers in major global cities. The 1 Series electric, which is dubbed ActivE, is believed to form the backbone of the future electric vehicle that will be assembled in BMW’s facility in Leipzig.
