Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull - BMW slows US production due to transmission supply

From the eruption of an Iceland volcano Eyjafjallajokull affected not only by tourists and airlines, but even the automakers. Despite the fact that currently most of the components, necessary for the production of cars of any brand are usually made near the place of assembly of automobiles, some details still are delivered from abroad. Thus, some auto plants remained without the necessary details, and work in them rose.

The German manufacturer BMW had to stop the conveyor of its plant in Spartanburg (USA), which produced the X5 and X6. Due to the cancellation of flights left without a gearbox factory, shipped from Germany. In Germany itself due to lack of components has been stopped at three plants.
