Lotus is one of four new teams for 2010. The manufacturer withdrew from F1 after the 1994 season and he returns as a project in Malaysia, since the brand is now the national manufacturer Proton.
Lotus F1 is headed by businessman Tony Fernandes, owner of the airline AirAsia. "We have achieved two goals: to get our place and reveal our car, but the real work begins now," he warns. "We will start testing and I am confident that the team exceeds expectations. "
The T127 was designed under the leadership of Mike Gascoyne, passed through Jordan, Renault, Toyota and Force India.
Pilot experience
The shakedown of the Lotus T127 was made few days ago on the Silverstone circuit by Fairuz Fauzy, the third driver. The team will join the private test at Jerez next week.
For its owners, Lotus has chosen two experienced pilots, both winners of a Grand Prix: Jarno Trulli, Toyota came, and Heikki Kovalainen, who has spent the last two seasons at McLaren.
The team is currently based in England but it plans to locate near the Sepang circuit in Malaysia in recent years.
